Lake Anne
The Lake Anne Village Center Washington Plaza was the first area developed in the planned community of Reston, and its unique design and sense of place are recognized worldwide by planners, architects and developers. Designated a Fairfax County Historic Overlay District, Washington Plaza is located in the heart of the Lake Anne Village Center. Its brick plaza, shops, and residences surrounding a man-made lake, have the form and feel of a European waterfront community.
The Lake Anne Commercial Revitalization Area (CRA), which includes the Historic Overlay District, is bounded by Baron Cameron Avenue (Rte 606) to the north, Lake Anne to the south, North Shore Drive to the west and Moorings Drive to the east. An integrated planning effort consisting of stakeholder Charette, and Focus Groups; and, planning, parking and transportation studies resulted in an amendment to the Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan on March 30, 2009. These changes reflect community values and perspectives, and position Lake Anne to again become an example of how innovative reinvestment and development can result in a renewed economic future.

- Alvarez and Marsal Real Estate Advisory Services, LLC to deliver Short and Long Term Commercial Reinvestment Plan for Lake Anne Village Center
On April 2, 2010 the OCRR accepted a proposal submitted by Alvarez and Marsal Real Estate Advisory Services, LLC (A&M) who had been previously retained by the County under a former consulting services Request for Proposal (RFP), to conduct an objective analysis of the current conditions at LAVC and deliver a timely creative and actionable Short and Long term Commercial Reinvestment Plan (CRP). The A&M is augmenting its wide ranging real estate advisory knowledge with the retail advisory expertise of The Eisen Group (TEG), who specializes in retail and mixed-use real estate. Over the course of a three month period, the A&M Team will assess the current economic condition of the unincorporated association known as the Lake Anne of Reston, A Condominium (LARCA), and the other LAVC non-residential uses. This analysis will be used by the A&M Team to develop a CRP plan with short and long term strategies to stabilize and sustain current establishments and to attract viable and complementary new nonresidential establishments to the LAVC. - LAVC Comprehensive Plan Amendment Adopted
