Annandale and Richmond Highway Win Community Appearance Alliance Awards
The Community Appearance Alliance of Northern Virginia recognized the Annandale Revitalization and Beautification Plan and the Gold's Gym pilot project under the Richmond Highway Facade Improvement Program with a 2004 meritorious award on Thursday, Dec. 9.
Annual awards are given to recognize superior efforts that create more beautiful environments.
The Annandale project is located in the heart of the Revitalization area on John Marr Drive and Little River Turnpike. The project included new plantings, brick sidewalks, crosswalks and a mini-park that all give the Annandale area a new, improved image. Learn more about Annandale's streetscape project.
Gold's Gym, located at 7770 Richmond Highway, received matching grant funds in a pilot project sponsored by Fairfax County and the Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation.
The Gold's Gym project remodeled the old Hechinger home supply store with a new facade that enhances and brightens the streetscape along Richmond Highway.
The facade improvement program on Richmond
Highway is ongoing and more applications are being accepted.
