Made In Fairfax - Small-Scale Production Initiative

Small Scale Manufacturing Reasons

To expand economic activity and build vibrant community centers, the Fairfax County Office of Community Revitalization is exploring the potential of small scale production businesses to enhance the County’s commercial areas.

Technological changes and consumer market preferences for locally-made and “artisanal”/craft products – from textiles, hardware, woodworking, and metalworking to breweries and local food production – have enabled small producers to competitively operate in traditionally non-industrial areas, such as retail and commercial centers.

Events

To present the findings and recommendations from a six-month study on small-scale production in the County, the public is invited to attend an upcoming Made in Fairfax Forum, to hear from Ilana Preuss of Recast City – a national leader in the small-scale production industry – on how creative entrepreneurs and the County can work together to support this innovative blend of economic and community development. The forum is open to all residents, businesses and property owners in Fairfax County. Small-scale producers are highly encouraged to attend.

The event will be held on Thursday, March 28th, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center in Conference Room 9/10, located at 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax VA 22035.

To register, visit the event page for more details.
