Richmond Highway

As one of Fairfax County’s main business corridors, Richmond Highway, boasts seven and one half miles of commercial and residential development along U.S. Route 1, which has seen much expansion in recent years.

With Woodlawn Plantation and Mount Vernon nearby, the area is also a tourist destination. Just seven miles outside of Washington, D.C., the district begins immediately south of the City of Alexandria and ends adjacent to the United States Army’s Fort Belvoir.

Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation — a community-based, public-private nonprofit economic development corporation — works closely with Fairfax County’s Revitalization division to guide and assist businesses locating or expanding in the area.

SFDC's program is designed to eliminate barriers to new enterprise, stimulate entrepreneurial initiative, attract and support quality development and provide a single source of development information and assistance.

Update: Download the final report and presentation from the Urban Land Institute.
